CM’s is excited to be a part of “The Garden Honoring the Immigrants of South Omaha.” The project is being headed by the H & L Community Action Group. The goal of the garden is to celebrate the rich cultural history of South Omaha and to highlight the important role that immigrants played in developing this community. The location of the project is just east of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Among the nations which will be recognized in the meditation garden are: Croatia, Czechoslovakia, Guatemala, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Serbia, and the Ukraine.
The meditation garden will include a brick paver walkway that incorporates stations with plaques detailing the sacrifices and contributions made by immigrants from certain geographical areas and specific countries. Special care will be taken to implement plant material and landscape elements identifiable to those countries being honored. Additionally, the path will include each nationality’s flag either on separate flag poles or stained concrete flag inserts within the pathway.
This is a very unique garden that will require community support to help make it a reality. The funds for the $250,000 project come solely through donations from individuals and public funding through grants.
A portion of the $20,000 already obtained through the South Omaha Historical Grant has been used for site grading, trees, and a seat-wall. Design and fundraising efforts have been donated as well. An Eagle Scout project that added a sign and numerous bird houses was completed in 2010.

CM’s is proud to be a part of the Legacy Veterans’ Garden memorializing those who have chosen to protect our freedom. Landscape Designer Rick Dostal has been an integral part of the planning process, creating a functional and aesthetically-pleasing space for residents and the public alike.
Plans call for the project, located on the property of the Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home at 12505 40th St in Bellevue, to be completed in the next few months. Contributions are being accepted for this project. To learn more about donor opportunities click here.
